National Medal of Honor Foundation
Recognizing Excellance in Corrections
MISSION: It is the mission of the Medal of Honor Foundation to promote excellence in the field of corrections by recognizing the men and women who go above and beyond the call of duty while protecting public safety.
HONOREE’s: The Foundation will select five honoree’s every year. Three shall be selected from among rank and file public correctional officers. One shall be a Supervisor or Administrator serving in a public correctional capacity, and a final selection shall be made from among civilians who have helped to advance the profession or who themselves have gone above and beyond to aid or assist corrections personnel.
SELECTION: Each February the Foundation shall make available nomination forms to be submitted to the Selection Committee. Nominations are open to all public correctional personnel, administrators, staff and civilians when applicable. The Selection Committee shall review the applications and announce their decisions by August 1 each year. Those selected will be flown to the ceremony where they will be honored at our annual Awards Banquet. All hotel accommodations and travel arrangements will be provided.
ADMINISTRATION: The Foundation is a Massachusetts 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation. Operations are overseen by a Board of Directors duly elected to three-year terms. The American Correctional Officer Intelligence Network (ACOIN) in partnership with the Foundation will administer the 2018 Awards.
EVENTS & FUNDRAISING: The Foundation will hold an annual Golf Tournament(s) to help raise funds for the event. We will also contact Departments of Corrections, County Jails, Labor Organizations, and Corporate and Individual sponsors to partner with us and continue making the Medal of Honor the finest event on the Corrections calendar.
