Eighteen retired and current Correctional Officers and Supervisors came together and formed the National Medal of Honor Foundation to honor our profession. We have contacted every state Department of Correction, every state Sheriffs Association, 180 of the largest counties, tens of thousands of individual Officers and staff members and dozens of Officer unions and employee associations. We have distributed over 3,000 Medal of Honor posters nationwide and have received nominations from all over the country.

We are writing to ask for your support in honoring our own. Recognizing individual Correctional Officers and the jobs they do also honors our profession. The acts these awards recognize are but a sampling of what goes on every day behind the walls of our nations prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers. The heroes who walk among us every day are rarely if ever recognized in the manner other law enforcement Officers are.

It is long overdue that our profession be recognized as an elite component of the law enforcement community. The National Medal of Honor Awards are a vehicle that shines a spotlight on the amazing jobs Correctional Officers do. Our awards consist of three Officer awards and a Supervisor and Staff/Civilian award. We are the only such ceremony held for our profession in the nation. We are also a 501c3 non-profit public charity, solely reliant on the donations of our supporters.

Now we are contacting you in the hopes that you will join with us in Oklahoma City this October 12-13, 2018 to honor our own. We hope that your organization can be counted on help us provide the type of awards ceremony our profession deserves.

The Foundation survives on the donations we receive from our sponsors. We hope we can count you to be among them. Please support the National Medal of Honor Foundation and send in your donation today, thank you!

Sincerely,

Lt. Ed Sullivan,

Chairman
